Chat Thai Restaurant

Located at 20 Campbell Street Haymarket, with architect Archstallation Commencement, the Chat thai job was an extensive renovation requiring internal demolition of the existing premises down to ground level and a complete renovation in a maximum of 16 weeks.

During the demolition of the existing building, sandstone brickwork was discovered to both boundary walls laid in classic English bond. The owners decided to keep these as a feature for their restaurant which resulted in a delicate operation of stripping render off the walls to keep the brickwork in tact. Subsequently all rubbish had to be removed by hand.

The reconstruction of these premises required the construction of new steel and timber framework to form a mezzanine level for additional restaurant seating. The accommodation of a disabled access toilet and entries was also required along with new drainage and electrical services. The upper floors were designed and structured to provide both meeting rooms and offices.

Notes: There was a large amount of co-ordination and effort required by the trades , Abroadley and the Designer to maintain the character of the building inside, yet succeed in delivering the vision of the Designer for the finished product. The result was a truly stunning restaurant.
